Your article made me think about brand archetypes and how marketing should come back to support it. A few books have touched on these and mention Harley and Nike brand archetypes.

Harley's is the "Rebel". Not only does the bike give it's consumer a chance to escape, but to escape into an exclusive club. One your grandma doesn't belong to and one that can make you feel like your further away from your corporate job than you really might be.

Nike's is the "Hero" archetype.

Interesting stuff! I am not sure what the bigger challenge is, finding the wave for your own company or convincing clients to embrace it.

Thanks--glad you liked it!

The question isn't really: "What is *a* web design studios wave?"

It is: "What is *your* web design studios wave?"

Maybe you're all about web standards and as such become an active part of that community--helping to spread the word and build awareness for this thing you believe in.

Perhaps you're about creating experiences that transcend the screen and you invest time in experimenting with such things.

Or, you could center your firm on working with groups with a social mandate.

There are many, many waves. The important part is to determine what matters to you.

Nice metaphor, and a great article that does make you think.

Please be blunt about this question: What is a web design studios wave?

If it will be available on amazon.co.uk that's great. There is actually an amazon dev center here so I think they ship here :P (checked on their site and sais for Book shipment: Most countries in the world.)

And other viable option for this region isn't.. for what I know at least.

Thanks Sorin--happy to hear that you enjoy the blog!

I haven't planned to make the book available as anything other than a paperback. You should be able to order it through amazon.co.uk. Hopefully that makes the shipping more reasonable.

Let me know if I'm incorrect in assuming so. Perhaps there are other options we should consider as well. :-)

Always interesting to read your ideas and hope you manage to keep it up for a long long time :)
And one little question about your book. Will it be available as a download version(pdf or somerhing else)?
I'm from eastern Europe so a hard copy will be preeetty expensive to get here.
