Hi man, I consider myself a "Hans". I'm also a good guy, like stuff like web design/CSS/Flash, etc., but haven't really focused on something :(

I'm at the middle of this wonderful career that is Graphic Design, and having never drawed before, I've discovered that I'm good at doing illustrations, but I think... I think I'm afraid to do that big step such as going forward, taking RESPONSIBILITY for this DECISION, that will make a huge part of my future and current life.

Thanks man, sometimes I have thought about this, and this article is just a wake up call.

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

Great post! I don't know why the title sparked my interest but it was exactly the same feeling i have about my own work as a photographer. All my friends know me as Jason the photographer, yet i keep finding myself building websites, catering for rich people or whatever else i have to do to get by.

Like you stated, i have the problem of narrowing my focus, or making contact with the people that could help me get freelance jobs. Tonight i am going to a class through mediabistro called "breaking into editorial photography." Although I have a degree in photojournalism, i'm hoping this will help give me a boost to make some further steps to get some work published.

Besides charging what you're worth, make steps to ensure that you are actually doing something towards your dream job all the time. It's amazing what an hour towards your work can accomplish instead of vegging on the couch not working on it. Thanks again for a great post!
